Extended Cab

Extended cabs with four doors often have shortened rear doors, which may open from the interior or exterior of the vehicle. This includes rear-hinged doors that can only be opened after the front doors are opened. This design provides wide access to the rear seats for stowing gear or passenger entry. Some older extended cab models only have three doors, while some models retain a two-door design that requires back seat passengers to crawl in through the front door behind the lowered front seat. The rear door windows in many extended cabs do not roll down, instead pushing open a few inches.

Depending on the configuration of the seats, extended cab trucks can seat up to six people, which occurs when there are front and back bench seats. Some older models have front bucket seats and a single rear seat to accommodate just three people. Models with two bucket seats and two fold down rear seats seat four, while trucks with a rear bench and front bucket seats hold five. Cabs with a front bench seat and two drop-down seats also hold five.
